Before and after the race

01. REGISTRATION
Race Office:

Please come to the IRONMAN City for registration at the above mentioned opening hours as soon as possible after arriving in Klagenfurt. The registration is located in the IRONMAN City north of the public bath (the Strandbad Klagenfurt).

Thursday: 9.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m
Friday: 9.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m
Saturday: 9.00 a.m to 12.00 noon
Sunday: closed
Monday: 10.00 a.m. to 14.00 noon Registration for next year’s IRONMAN

For registration please bring along:

  • A valid photo identification
  • Your own timing chip. If you don’t have a chip you have to rent one for €34. When returning the chip you will be refunded €30. €4 will be kept as a rental fee for PENTEK timing.
  • Your licence. If you don’t have one, you will have to apply for a one-day licence which costs €6.

    Registration process:

    Make sure you know your start number before coming to the reception at the IRONMAN City. You’ll have to check and confirm your data. Proceed to the appropriate counter (organized according to start numbers) where you’ll be given your starter package and your athlete’s band.

    Please mind that it is very important for the team ranking that all members of the team have spelled the name of the team in the same way!

    Your starter package includes:
    2 start numbers, 1 bike number, 3 helmet numbers, 1 swimming cap,  1 race information booklet and 2 transition bags and 1 streetwear bag.

    The athlete’s band is valid as:

  • entrance ticket for the PastaParty (Friday 18:00)
  • entrance ticket for the transition area
  • entrance ticket to the awards ceremony banquet (Monday 6:00 p.m)

    Please check your start package carefully. If anything is missing, please contact the race office at once. If you have any other questions, please contact a member of the AskMe-Team at the AskMe-stand who will gladly help you.

    02. TIMING
    The timing system is from IRONMAN itself. You will get a chip and you will have to hand it back at the finish line.

    03. RACE BRIEFING
    Being present at the race briefing is obligatory. The race briefing in English will be held on Saturday at 10.00-10.45 am in the big tent. 
      

     

    04. CHECK-IN
    Bikes and Transitions bags Check-In is on Saturday. Bikes and helmets must be checked in in the transition area (opposite the main entrance to the Strandbad Klagenfurt) according to the following schedule:

    13:00 – 19:00 start numbers: 1-100
    13.00 – 14:30 start numbers: 101-700
    14:30 – 16:00 start numbers: 701-1.300
    16:00 – 17:30 start numbers: 1.301-1.900
    17:30 – 19:00 start numbers: 1.901-2.500

    Bike CheckIn takes place together with handing in your 2 transition bags (Swim/Bike & Bike/Run). Only Athletes can enter the transition area on race day (Sunday 5:00 – 6:30).
     
    You can give the bike shoes either in your transition bag or already clip them onto your bike.

    05. INDIVIDUAL RACE PROVISION
    During the registration process youwill also register as special needs athlete, so our computer aided system will recognise you as special needs athlete when you pass thetiming mats. The SCHENKER staff will getyour special needs bags ready and hand it to you as soon as you pass the SCHENKER special needs station. You’llhave the sack faster and come closer to you personal best! Individual race provisions for both the bike and run course can be handed in at the entrance to the transition area on race day between 5:00 – 6:30. A SCHENKER staff member will accept your provision bags and put them in the SCHENKER truck. Please make sure you have marked the bags with your start number and the capital letters B for bike or R for run. Use waterproof felt pens only.

    Please use the bags exclusively for provisions and not for valuables and clothing, because they will be thrown away after the race. The organiser will not take any responsibility for lost items.

    The SCHENKER special needs aid station on the bike section is located soon after the U-Turn (km 2, 62, 122). The one on the run section is located at Plattenwirt (km 1, 11, 21, 31 and 41).

    06. DEPOSIT OF CLOTHES BEFORE THE RACE
    You can leave the clothes you’re wearing before and after the race in a tent at the aid station (entrance to swim start) on race day from 6:00 – 6:45. Volunteers will accept your bags and will hand them out to you after the race on Sunday from 15:00 onwards.

    Please do not forget to mark the bag with your start number.

    07. START NUMBER CHECK
    The start number must be attached at its four corners to your singlet – when biking the number on the back of your singlet and when running it must be on the front. Make sure the start number and the names of the sponsors can be read easily and are not altered (safety pins will be in your starter package). The use of a start number belt is advisable only if your start number and the sponsors ‘names’ readability is not affected.

    We suggest – for your own safety – that you write your name, blood group, any allergies you have, and the phone number of a person to be contacted in case of an accident on the back side of your start numbers.

    08. FIRST AID
    If you require first aid, please inform the nearest volunteer. Doctors will get to you immediately. Please remain where you are when you call for medical assistance.

    09. MASSAGE
    From Wednesday to Saturday and on the “Day after” the IRONMAN Austria massage crew will offer you massage treatment in the massage tent.

    This offer is also available for your supporters. Please make a reservation at the massage-booth as soon as possible. You can also make a reservation on massage@ironmanaustria.com.

    10. CHECK OUT
    You may pick up your bike in the transition area by midnight on race day. Afterwards the transition area is unguarded and we won’t take responsibility for any loss.

    11. HAWAII SLOT DISTRIBUTION
    AGE GROUP/HAWAII QUALIFICATION

    The IRONMAN Austria Triathlon offers 50 slots for the IRONMAN Hawaii Triathlon 2010. The respective qualification reached at the IRONMAN Austria is only valid for IRONMAN Hawaii of each year. The final allocation ofslots will be calculated accordingly to the number of starters ineach age group and will be adapted as neccessary before the race. Most likely not all competitors who qualify are going to Hawaii. Therefore the respective age group will be shifted until the last qualifying slot corresponds with the number given to the respective age group. The administrative allocation of start places will only be executed by the organizer.

    Attention:
    All athletes who are in competition for an IRONMAN slot have to be at the slot presentation in the IRONMAN Dome on Monday at 13:00.

    You will need:

  • a valid photo identification
  • U$ 550,- (approx. 420€) in cash The US daily licence has to be bought on Hawaii.
     
    12. INFO POINT
    The AskMe Team will make every effort to give you the information you require concerning the race, e.g.:

    - description of the race course with detailed maps
    - important announcements in the IRONMAN City
    - Lost & Found Please come to the Info stand if you lose or find anything. You may go through all of the lost & found items on Monday from 10:00 on wards
    - sale of extra tickets for the pasta party and the awards ceremony banquet

    13. EXTRA TICKETS FOR PASTA PARTY AND AWARD CEREMONY 
    Extra-Tickets you can buy at the Info-Poínt or at the entrance of the PastaParty and the Award’s Ceremony.

    14. SHUTTLEBUSSES FOR SPECTATORS
    Our shuttles will bring your supporters to Egg/See or to St. Egyden, the most interesting point of the bike course. Departure is in front of Strandbad Klagenfurt from 8.00 every 15 minutes.

    15. ACCESS TO STRANDBAD KLAGENFURT ON RACE DAY
    After 6:00 it will no longer be possible to access the race area by car. Due to the amount of traffic expected, it will probably take you an additional 30 minutes to reach the IRONMAN City! There is no shuttle bus service. To save parking space please make use of car pools! There is an alternative parking space available at Minimundus (a 5 minute walk from the swim finish).

    16. ACCESS TO EGG/SEE
    Your friends or family members can reach Egg am See by car – via Highway A2 (direction Villach) – exit Slovenia/St. Niklas. 

    17. FURTHER INFORMATION
    Toilets:
    We urgently ask you to use the public toilets before the start. Regular Strandbad visitors would like to lie on the lawn so do not abuse it for your needs. There will be additional toilets in the transition area and at the aid stations/run.

    Registering for start:
    At the entrance to the start the athletes are registered via chip. If you jump over the blocks or swim to the start area you’ll not be registered and therefore disqualified.

    Official Result lists:
    Live-Results are available on www.ironmanlive.com. Current rankins can be checked at the AskMe booth. Additionally, 5 announcers will keep the spectators up to date during the whole day. From Tuesday after RaceWeek the result lists will be available for download on our website.

    Certificates:
    You can print your certificate online www.pentek-timing.at . Please note that no certificates will be sent to you.

    Disqualification:
    The disqualifications-list will be updated regularly at the AskMe booth.

    Medal – engraving:
    You can get your medal engraved on Sunday (Finish-Tent) and Monday in the IRONMAN City.

    Finisher-Photos:
    The Ironman Austria Photo service will sell finisher photos Monday beginnin at 10:00 in the registration tent. There are also thousands of pictures online, which you can choose from by clicking on the Kärnten Ironman Austria Photo Service button on the left side on our website.

    18. NUTRITIONS

    19. DOPING TESTS 
    There are dopingtests at the IRONMAN Austria. It will concern top-five men and women (main-results) and two agegroup athletes selected randomly. The price-money will be paid AFTER the announcement of the test-results!
