The start of the first discipline of Kärnten IRONMAN Austria takes place in Strandbad Klagenfurt, the biggest lakeside resort in Europe. On a nice summer day the beach bath resort is visited by up to 15.000 guests.

The start takes place in the water and pros are let down 40m before the field. The water temperature of the Wörthersees amounts in July, on an average 25 °C, carrying of wetsuits is permitted to the participants (will be announced at the race briefing)

After the start the distance leads 1500ms straight ahead in the lake, is swum afterwards to the left in the direction of beach bath Maiernigg. The short running passage has been removed because the first buoy has been shifted from 800m to 1500m.

The last 900m lead into the Lendkanal. The mood is unique here, because just a few meters seperate spectators and swimmers.
